FIRE HAZARD!, October 14, 2011 By This review is from: Sunbeam MA7284-030-000 SlumberRest Heated Electric Cotton Blend Mattress Pad, King (Kitchen) We bought this mattress pad because we upgraded to a king sized bed and wanted the same quality Camelot Haven pad (which was awesome)we had for our queen bed (which we have owned for 7 years). The Camelot Haven pad was thick and was backed by heavy felt. This one is really thin and backed by some see-thru stuff. Be prepared to use a second mattress pad over the top of your sensitive to the wires. Against my better judgement, I tried it out yesterday. Once I had the plug at the end of the bed completely in place (which was difficult) the F code finally stopped flashing. I checked to make sure it heated up properly, then carefully shut both sides of the bed OFF. When I went to bed some 8 hours later I pulled back the covers and my side of the bed was HOT - odd I thought, so I looked to confirm that the pad was indeed turned off - it was. Felt around to the plug - which was really hot. Not a good sign when the pad is turned OFF!- especially because it was hot and muggy last... Read more
